Second Peak
first & second peak continue to overlap
It's week ten of the color season and although it seems the end of the color season is near, we should have another two weeks of trip-worthy color remaining.

The past two storms have brought about considerable leaf drop, but the hardwoods are holding strong as they peak across the region.

Most years hardwood trees will be a week or two behind from the initial wave of colors from maples, sourwoods, poplars, etc. However this year, we've been fortunate to enjoy an overlap, resulting in back to back weeks of gorgeous peak color.

Past-peak continues its march down the mountainside and on average sits at 4500 - 5000' region-wide, but only due to hardwood trees.

Most of the vibrant peak color sits along the mid elevations between 3000 - 4500'.
