Hello Fall
the fall color season has begun!
We observed the season's first color on August 21st below Little Sam Knob along Upper Hwy 215, while 99.999% of the region remained green.

Fast forward two weeks and we're now experiencing a region-wide shift, with a majority of the trees above 5000' turning to a late summer green; a bit faded, not as deep, and in some spots showing a tinge of yellow.

At this point in the season most of the color is due to stress or species like birches and beeches that peak by late September.

Top questions at this point include, whether the color will be bright and quick hitting, dull and stretched out, impacted by the drought or if a seamless transition to the second peak occurs later in October.
